Mrs. Wells was born and raised in the City of New York, and received her Bachelor of Arts Decree from New York University in 1988, and her Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1993.
She worked at an accounting firm in Manhattan as a receptionist/secretary during her time in college and law school while she raised her children. Upon graduating from law school, Mrs. Wells landed a job at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, where she prosecuted both misdemeanors and felonies in Bronx County. She then obtained a position at Essence Magazine as in-house legal counsel to the advertising department.
In 1996, after the death of her mother, she packed up her children and relocated to sunny Virginia Beach, Virginia. After her arrival, she landed the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science and also became the Director of the Pre-Law Program in the Political Science Department at Norfolk State University. Simultaneously, she co-hosted a weekly radio talk show called “Pause for the Cause” on 103 Jamz for several years.
Near the end of her tenure at Norfolk State, she took and passed the NFL Contract Advisor exam and became a member of the Brown Group, LLC, a sports agency firm in Virginia Beach. At that time, she also opened up her own law practice and began taking on clients and some pretty big cases. As her firm grew, she had to leave the Brown Group, and currently acts as a consultant for them.
Her firm, The Law Office of Allyson Denise Wells, PLLC, is a multifaceted law firm based in Virginia Beach. Her areas of specialty include divorce, custody, criminal and civil litigation, and personal injuries law.
Mrs. Wells became a licensed real estate agent in September 2014 and works under William "Russ" Brown, Managing Broker of William Brown Real Estate, LLC.
